Sharon Randle is located on the Gold Coast in Queensland and provides psychology services online.
WHAT TIME ZONE ARE YOU USING WHEN YOU SCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENTS?
All times are stated using Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST), which is GMT + 10 hours, otherwise known as ‘Queensland time’ by other states during their daylight saving months.
HOW MUCH WILL MY SESSION COST?
Standard 50 minute sessions during weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, excluding weekends and public holidays, are available at the discounted rate of $200. A Medicare rebate (where applicable) is $96.65 for a standard 50 minute session with $103.35 out of pocket cost.
Short sessions are 25 minutes during weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time and cost $120. A Medicare rebate (where applicable) is $68.50 for a 25 minute session with $51.50 out of pocket cost.
Extended sessions are 75 minutes during weekdays between 8:30 am and 6:15 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time and cost $250. A Medicare rebate (where applicable) is $96.65 for a 75 minute session with $153.35 out of pocket cost.
All fees are payable at the end of the session by credit/debit card or direct deposit.
Closed on Weekends & Public Holidays
WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED FEE?
The Australian Association of Psychologists inc recommend a fee of $315 for a standard sessions up to 60 minutes.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
No referrals are required to attend psychology sessions unless you are intending to claim a Medicare Rebate or reimbursement from another 3rd party funder.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT MEDICARE REBATES?
You may be able to claim back some of the cost of your sessions through Medicare if you have a doctor's referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, or a referral from a psychiatrist, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. When booking an appointment with your GP to obtain your first referral, ask for a longer consultation and mention that you would like to initiate a Mental Health Treatment Plan to see a psychologist.
Referrals from doctors may be sent directly by fax (+61 735 233 708), email (admin@sharonrandle.com.au), Medical Objects, or HealthLink (sharonra).
DOES THE MEDICARE SAFETY NET APPLY TO MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES?
Yes. Your out-of-pocket expenses will count towards the Medicare Safety Net. Once you reach the relevant threshold in the calendar year, Medicare benefits will increase to 100 per cent of the Government-determined schedule fee under the original Safety Net, and 80 per cent of your total out-of-pocket expenses for out-of-hospital services under the extended Medicare Safety Net. The Medicare Safety Net is designed to protect high users of health services from large out-of-pocket expenses.

IF I HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLAN WITH A REFERRAL STATING THE NAME OF ANOTHER PSYCHOLOGIST OR PSYCHOLOGY PRACTICE, CAN I CHOOSE TO SEE YOU INSTEAD?
Yes - you are more than welcome to book your appointment with Sharon even if there is another psychologist or psychology practice stated on your referral.
You can choose to change psychologists and see a psychologist other than the person or practice stated on your referral. There is no legislative barrier preventing a person from changing to a different psychologist or psychology practice.
WHAT IS A PRIVATE PSYCHOLOGY SESSION AND WHY WOULD I WANT ONE?
As a private paying client you book and pay for sessions without a rebate from Medicare.
Clients may choose to access private psychology sessions for a number of different reasons. Some reasons may include:

HOW DO I MAKE A BOOKING?
To make a booking, email us at admin@sharonrandle.com.au and we will get back to you quickly with the next steps.
WHAT IS THE CURRENT WAIT TIME FOR INITIAL APPOINTMENTS?
Most initial sessions are currently booked within one or two weeks after the client has requested a booking.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
Please notify the psychologist at least 48 hours in advance to cancel your session free of charge. Clients who cancel sessions within 24 - 48 hours of their scheduled appointment will be charged 50% of the full consultation fee. Clients who cancel sessions within 24 hours of their scheduled appointment or who do not show for their appointment at the scheduled appointment time will be charged 100% of the full consultation fee. The notice period excludes weekends and public holidays, and messages left after office hours will not be actioned until the next business day.
Please note that the cancellation fee is not claimable through Medicare or your private health fund. Cancellation fees may be waived at the discretion of your psychologist if you are sick and unable to provide notice to cancel your session.
HOW DO I CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT?
You can cancel your appointment by emailing us at admin@sharonrandle.com.au or by responding to your reminder text message.
ARE YOU REGISTERED WITH NDIS?
No. NDIS clients are treated as private paying clients. You may be able to use your paid invoice for reimbursement using your NDIS package. Please see your support coordinator for more information or if you need assistance with this. If you need psychology sessions billed directly to the NDIS, please email admin@sharonrandle.com.au to discuss further.
WILL MY SESSIONS BE COVERED BY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE?
You can attend your psychology session as a private paying client and once you have paid your invoice you may be able submit the receipt to your private health fund. You will need to check with your private health fund prior to booking your session to see if you have coverage for psychological services.
CAN I HAVE A TELEPHONE SESSION?
Yes. Please indicate this at booking or when you confirm your appointment.
HOW DO I JOIN A VIDEO SESSION?
You will be sent a link to join your video session using a compatible computer, tablet, or smartphone with video and audio enabled. Video sessions will be conducted using Zoom using end-to-end encryption. Please ensure you download the Zoom software to your device prior to your session. If the video call becomes too unstable during the session to continue, or if technical difficulties are encountered, your session can continue via telephone.
IS MY INTERNET FAST ENOUGH?
It is recommended your download and upload speed be at least 0.35+ Mb/sec for quality sound and video performance.

DO YOU OFFER SESSIONS IN PERSON?
This site is primarily for booking telehealth sessions for clients Australia-wide. Sharon offers sessions in person at a comfortable practice located in Southport on the Gold Coast, Queensland. However, prices, booking procedures, availability, cancellation polices, and other documents and procedures differ when booking in-person sessions. If you are located on the Gold Coast and you would like sessions with Sharon in person, please email admin@sharonrandle.com.au to request further information.
DO YOU ACCEPT WORKCOVER QUEENSLAND/NDIS/VICTIMS ASSIST REFERRALS AND BILL THEM DIRECTLY?

- there is no requirement for a GP referral to access sessions
- progress letters to GPs are optional
- some people do not have a Medicare card or do not want their psychology sessions appearing in their Medicare records
- some people have used all their approved Medicare rebated sessions for the year and would like to attend additional sessions
There are numerous other reasons why people attend private psychology sessions. If you would like a private psychology session, please indicate this at booking.
